AmaWaterways’ 156-passenger AmaLea set sail this week on an inaugural cruise out of Amsterdam.
The new ship, which will be christened on May 26, is currently sailing along the Dutch and Belgian canals and will return to Amsterdam on April 1. After sailing a series of six Amsterdam-Belgium cruises, the AmaLea will begin sailing seven-night cruises along the Danube River on May 6.
The AmaLea is a sister ship to the AmaKristina, AmaStella and AmaViola. Like its sisters, the AmaLea features connecting as well as triple-occupancy staterooms that can accommodate large family groups. The ship also features AmaWaterways’ twin-balcony concept (a step-out balcony adjacent to a French balcony) in most of its staterooms.
The AmaLea has a heated pool on the sun deck, hair and massage salons, a fitness center, complimentary WiFi throughout the ship, and a fleet of complimentary bicycles.
In addition to its regular Danube cruises, the AmaLea is slated to sail two wine-themed cruises in November. One will be hosted by Amelia Ceja, president of Napa, Calif.-based Ceja Vineyards, and the other by Frederick Frank, president of Hammondsport, N.Y.-based Dr. Konstantin Frank Wine Cellars.
The AmaLea will close out its inaugural 2018 season with four Christmas markets cruises on the Danube.
