After attending some sessions at the TBEX Stockholm conference, I tried to make my way to the Moderna Museet, Museum of Modern, before the next conference event. The subway station I had to go to is very close to the Royal Swedish Opera House. I popped in to see if there was a concert or opera this coming Sunday. It turns out that summer is not opera season, of course, but the friendly young attendants told me there was a chamber music concert at 5:30. I bought a ticket on the spot and made my way to the Moderna. Not knowing Stockholm very well at all, by the time I got to the museum, I realized I would not have time to go in before the concert. So I walked back to the Operan and waited a few minutes before I and the small audience were let in to a beautiful room where we were treated to a glass of champagne (included in the ticket). The Royal Swedish Opera House is stunning inside and outside. That alone is worth the visit. But then…

I did not understand a word, but I felt every note!
The program was called “It Is Most Beautiful at Dusk,” a concert of mostly Swedish composers De Frumerie and Rangström’s songs from the early 20th century. Ms. Mannerström was sublime and she was magnificent. For one of her encore’s she delighted the audience with Tosca’s Prayer. Wow! Ms. Ecaterina’s piano accompaniment, precise and soulful.

This was definitely an unexpected of my trip to Stockholm. If you love music, you won’t lack for opportunities to enjoy it in this city, whether it’s classical or Jazz or EDM, you won’t be disappointed, on the contrary.
