Weekly postings of virtual tours in the Western Cape have been added to the ‘One Day’ campaign initiated by tourism marketing agency, Wesgro, and the Western Cape government.
The primary aim is to showcase the Western Cape’s natural and cultural wealth while supporting local tour guides who would otherwise have little to no income.
Tours that have been posted to date include a virtual exploration of the Bo-Kaap and a day in the Garden Route with a walk through the Tsitsikamma forest.
In the Bo-Kaap, viewers will be virtually guided by Latifa Cozyn from Cut Above Tours. The tour shows the colourful houses in the Bo-Kaap, the Bo-Kaap Museum and a visit to Kalky’s in Kalk Bay for virtual fish and chips.
Or perhaps you’d prefer scenic walks through Robberg Nature Reserve and the Tsitsikamma Forest and sundowners along the Bitou River.
More videos will be posted every week, to YouTube and social media and each video is posted with a Snap Scan link that enables viewers to tip their virtual tour guides.
