Paris has offered Ubeeqo the management of 850 on-street parking spaces with the aim of creating a new Mobilib service.
These new spaces will enable Ubeeqo to expand its fleet of self-service vehicles, enhancing mobility for Parisians.
They will feature vehicles of all categories, with a large proportion of electric and hybrid cars.
As a result, Ubeeqo will be providing a total of nearly 1,100 vehicles by the end of 2019, thereby consolidating its leadership position in the French capital.
Active in Paris since 2015, Ubeeqo has achieved ever-growing success since the introduction of its service.
To meet the steady growth in user numbers (up by 20 per cent every month in 2018), Ubeeqo’s fleet doubled between 2017 and 2018, reaching 500 vehicles at the end of last year.
Having won this call for tenders, Ubeeqo will now be able to expand its Paris fleet considerably, while making its vehicles more accessible.
“The choice of the City of Paris is a great source of pride for Ubeeqo and Europcar Mobility Group.
“Ubeeqo’s success in recent years clearly demonstrates that our solution meets city dwellers’ new mobility expectations: practical, accessible, and an ever more attractive alternative to individual car ownership” said Emmanuel Nedelec, head of international development, Ubeeqo.
An historical player on the vehicle rental market, Europcar Mobility Group diversified its activity in recent years, putting forth mobility solutions ranging from car-sharing solutions to chauffeur services, while continuing to expand and digitalize its traditional rental services.
Caroline Parot, Europcar Mobility Group chief executive, added: “Car-sharing is a natural extension of vehicle rental.
“Under the Europcar brand, we have been helping our clients get around through shared use of vehicles for nearly 70 years.
“We provide this service daily and on a large scale, thanks to our fleet management expertise.”
