Rixos Hotels has revealed that Cenk Unverdi has been appointed regional general manager of its properties in the United Arab Emirates.
Following his promotion, Unverdi now oversees all day-to-day operations of the four five-star properties in the United Arab Emirates, including Rixos the Palm Dubai Hotel & Suites, Rixos Premium Dubai, the newly opened Rixos Saadiyat Island and Rixos Bab Al Bahr.
It is quite a portfolio, with Rixos the Palm Dubai Hotel & Suites being considered the World’s Leading Lifestyle Resort by voters at the World Travel Awards, while Rixos Premium Dubai has been honoured with the title of Middle East’s Leading Landmark Hotel.
At the same time, Rixos Saadiyat Island took the title of Middle East’s Leading New Resort earlier this year, and the trophy for Middle East’s Leading All-Inclusive Resort went to Rixos Bab Al Bahr.
The appointment comes shortly after Unverdi’s recent promotion to cluster general manager of Rixos the Palm Dubai Hotels & Suites and Rixos Premium Dubai in 2018, following a succession of key achievements since moving to the emirate with Rixos Hotels in 2012.
He helped oversee the pre-opening of Rixos the Palm Dubai as operations manager, overseeing the property as it transitioned into the United Arab Emirates’ first luxury multi-concept resort in 2016.
He was subsequently assigned the role of project leader for the pre-opening of Rixos Premium Dubai in 2017.
Earlier in his career Unverdi started out in finance, business administration and food and beverage at Rixos President Astana.
He then took part in a management trainee programme that allowed him to progress into various operational roles where he gained experience across all aspects of hotel management.
