The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) will visit the US to participate in the New York Times Travel Show, set to take place from January 25 to 27, marketing the country as a premier tourist destination.
UTB, alongside PHG Group, its destination marketing representative in North America, and eight Ugandan tour operators will represent the country at the show, which is considered one of the biggest travel shows in North America and is expected to attract more than 550 exhibitors from over 170 destinations.
Stephen Asiimwe, UTB CEO, said the show formed part of major activities outlined to showcase Uganda to travel enthusiasts in the US market and ensure that US tourist numbers increased, as the US was currently Uganda’s top source market, reports PML Daily.
Led by Asiimwe, the delegation will engage with travel agents and experts, embassies, airlines and the media, to name a few, on Uganda’s tourism offerings.
Willian Lubuulwa, PML Daily, quoted Asiimwe saying: “The number of tourists from the United States to Uganda has been on the rise with a 6.6% increment registered from 2016 to 2017. This is expected to increase in the coming years with funds concealed in aggressive marketing initiatives.”
