Kenya Airways has expanded its footprint to the Horn of Africa with daily operations between Jomo Kenyatta Airport, Nairobi, and Aden Adde International Airport, Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, effective November 15.
The flights, operated by low-cost carrier, Jambojet, will be serviced by a Bombardier Dash 8 Q400.
Flight schedule is as follows:
- KQ 8562: Depart Nairobi at 07h40, arrive in Mogadishu at 09h55.
- KQ 8563: Depart Mogadishu at 10h45, arrive in Nairobi at 13h00.
In a statement, Kenya Airways CEO, Sebastian Mikosz, said: “The addition of this route to our network demonstrates our commitment to improving connectivity on the African continent, while creating new opportunities for corporate investors, traders and tourists.”
In March last year, Kenya and Somalia opened a new charter of co-operation when plans were announced to open the two border posts and re-launch direct flights between Nairobi and Mogadishu in an effort to facilitate the movement of people, goods and services.
