Singapore Airlines has set Nov. 2 as the launch date for its nonstop Los Angeles-Singapore flight.
The route will be the second longest from the U.S., behind only the Newark-Singapore service that Singapore Airlines will begin Oct. 12.
Singapore Airlines will fly the route with its new Airbus A350-900ULRs in a two-cabin configuration with no coach seating. The plane will have 67 business class seats and 94 premium economy seats.
Singapore will fly the Los Angeles nonstop three times during the route’s first week of operation before increasing the frequency to daily on Nov. 9. Beginning Dec. 7, Singapore will up the frequency again, to 10 times per week.
With the addition of the nonstop Los Angeles service, Singapore Airlines will cease its one-stop Los Angeles-Seoul-Singapore service on Nov. 30.
The carrier previously flew nonstop from Singapore to Los Angeles and Newark, but halted those routes in 2013 due to high fuel prices.
Singapore Airlines will begin its Los Angeles non-stops just eight days after United halts the Los Angeles-Singapore service it began flying in October of last year.
United is shifting those Singapore flights to San Francisco, giving it a twice-daily San Francisco-Singapore offering.
