ASIA DMC has opened a new chapter in its global story by forming a partnership with SEEZA Destination Network based in Johannesburg.
As part of this co-operation, Septi M. Bukula, SEEZA’s Director, recently visited ASIA DMC’s corporate office in Hanoi, Vietnam, where he spent a week meeting ASIA DMC’s team and executives, exchanging information and sharing best-practices.
Bukula went on to experience Halong Bay, Vietnam’s Unesco World Heritage Site on an overnight journey with Au Co Cruises, the flagship cruise operator of ASIA DMC’s sister company, Bhaya Group.
This initiative was designed to improve the two organisations’ operations in a range of areas, including contracting, customer services, sales and marketing, MICE and event planning and more. The visit was also intended to promote mutual cultural understanding and develop new business networks.
This collaboration is expected to put ASIA DMC, SEEZA and its members in a better position to address the challenges and meet the opportunities arising in the industry.
“Asia and Africa share many links from a historic, cultural and economic growth perspective. We are also two of the world’s fastest-growing regions for tourism,” commented ASIA DMC’s Group Managing Director, Linh Le.
“We have been very impressed with the extensive support SEEZA provides to locally owned SME members, which makes it an organisation that is truly sustainable for growth. I encourage the promotion of local indigenous businesses which SEEZA supports,” Le added.
Bukula commented: “I have learnt a lot from ASIA DMC, both in terms of its current operations and its history. I was particularly struck by the similarities between ASIA DMC in its early days and SEEZA in its current early establishment phase. ASIA DMC was structured very much along the lines of SEEZA, and has since evolved into a powerful DMC, making its experience pertinent to our network.
“I look forward to implementing the lessons learnt here, which will undoubtedly play an important role in shaping the future of SEEZA and tourism SMEs generally in South Africa. I am most grateful to the leadership and team at ASIA DMC for sharing so openly with me and giving me the best of Asian warmth and hospitality,” he added.
