To commemorate this achievement during over two decades of establishment and development, Vietnam Airlines hosted a ceremony to welcome the 200 millionth passenger with the honoured presences of senior officials from ministry of transport, representatives from the Airports Corporation Vietnam and employees of the airline.
The three special 200 millionth, 199,999,999th and 2,000,001st passengers, whose name is Nguyen Truong Chinh, Ngo Huy Hoang and Phan Thi Thu Hang respectively, were on the flight number VN223 from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, landing off at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
“Vietnam Airlines has reached a 200 million passenger milestone on our 1.6 million flights in over two decades.
“This achievement is, without doubt, a solid testament to the trust, confidence and support from airline community and our valued customers, both domestic and international,” said Duong Tri Thanh, president, Vietnam Airlines, at the ceremony.
“This warm event welcoming our 200 millionth passenger represents our gratitude towards the customers who trust and choose to fly with us.
“Hence, it is also our commitment to keep working, trying our best to fulfil all of our customers’ needs and requirements.”
During the period of 1995-2017, Vietnam Airlines has operated 1.6 million safe flights, both domestic and international, transporting 200 million passengers with the annual average growth of 11 per cent.
At the event, Vietnam Airlines – which is recognised as Asia’s Leading Cultural Airline by the World Travel Awards – also officially kicked off the Flights of Love projects which compile potential solutions aiming at helping other people so that they can have a better life.
Vietnam Airlines will sponsor tickets for these community projects.

“The Flights of Love was born with a mission of improving people’s lives and contributing to the development of the society,” Duong Tri Thanh emphasised.
“In the near future, with the help of the all Vietnam Airlines employees, the Flights of Love will expand with more meaningful activities, establishing a sustainable development community.”
