Amidst claims that South African Airways serves contaminated foods that do not comply with Halaal standards, SAA Spokesperson, Tlali Tlali, says: “SAA’s Muslim customers can be assured that AirChefs, the catering subsidiary of the airline, is compliant with the stringent Halaal requirements.”
This assurance follows the publication of a report based on claims that were made anonymously. “The claims are baseless and malicious, and appear to be the work of a handful of disgruntled employees who wish to bring the name of AirChefs and, by extension, SAA into disrepute,” he says.
Upon receiving of the anonymous call, the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC) area manager did a site inspection and found the facility compliant to the highest possible rating and issued an audit report to this effect.
