Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will begin offering its lower-cost Go Light product on all U.S. routes beginning Dec. 14.
Go Light, introduced on intra-Europe routes in 2015, enables passengers who don’t plan to check bags to fly at a discount. Go Light passengers otherwise receive the same service as those who hold an SAS economy cabin ticket, which the airline calls SAS Go.
Though the amount of the discount for purchasing a Go Light ticket on U.S. service will vary by the flight, SAS spokesman Fredrik Henriksson said it would average approximately $35 each way.
Passengers who purchase a Go Light ticket and then later decide to check a bag will pay more than it would have cost to purchase a standard Go ticket.
SAS flies to the U.S. from Sweden, Norway and Denmark. It serves New York, Chicago, Boston, Miami, Washington Dulles, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
