Leading fitness club operator, MyFitness, has opened Europe’s very first gym situated within an airport terminal.
The gym is located at Gate 6 in the departures area of Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport with views on to the runway.
The gym is fully equipped with state of the art modern equipment with internet connection, as well specialist training machines and a stretching area.
Erkki Torn, chairman of My Fitness, commented: “We’re truly delighted to provide travellers with the first free gym right next to the gates of an airport in Europe.
“We know how important keeping fit is to people nowadays and travelling can get in the way of a healthy lifestyle.
“So we want to give travellers an easy way to keep up with their fitness regime even when their lives are busy.
“Whether it’s 15 minutes on the treadmill or some stretching before a long flight, this provides a healthy way for travellers to occupy their time while waiting to board.
“We plan to roll out additional features over the coming months to help travellers get the most out of the gym, including a trainer to give advice on using the machines and tips on the best exercises and nutrition tips for long flights.”
Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport is known to be one of the most unique airports in the world in other areas too.
At only 3.5 kilometres from the city centre it’s one of the quickest ‘city-to-airport’ transfers in the world with a taxi journey taking just ten minutes.
This makes it a convenient destination for a short break or business trip.
Tarmo Mutso, director of the Estonian Tourist Board, commented: “This new airport gym is a fantastic addition to Tallinn Airport and is the latest in a range of innovative features at the airport.
“We place great importance on looking after our visitors to Estonia and this begins the moment they land in our country.
“The airport is already home to a children’s area with a Lotte-themed playhouse (the well-loved Estonian cartoon character), a café where customers can prepare their own sandwiches, and our free library which is open 24 hours a day and operates purely on trust.
“With this new gym, we’re delighted to be able to further add to the customer experience for people visiting our country from around the world.”
