In the recent cabinet reshuffle brought in by the Modi government, former Kerala IAS officer Alphons Kannanthanam has been designated the role of the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Tourism.
Accepting the responsibility he stated that the ministry has a “great role” to play in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of creating a new India where all citizens can live with dignity.
“We can go much beyond incredible India. We want to create an India where we love ourselves, love a clean India and its history. Then we tell the world, come and see us,” said the 1979 batch IAS officer.
Apart from the charge of new Tourism Minister, Kannanthanam has also been appointed as the Minister of Electronics and IT Ministry of the State.
