The Saxon Hotel, Villas & Spa has accepted industry honours as not only South Africa’s, but also Africa’s Leading Boutique Hotel during the Africa Gala Ceremony of the World Travel Awards.
Shambala Private Game Reserve, which was officially included as part of the Saxons all-inclusive urban, bush offering in 2015 also picked up honours as the South Africa as well as Africa’s Leading Private Game Reserve.
In addition to these coveted awards (voted for by travel and tourism professionals), tribute was paid to the Saxons iconic Nelson Mandela Platinum Suite, with the awards of both South Africa and Africa’s Leading Hotel Suite 2017.
Long-time managing director, George Cohen, credits the Saxon’s continued success to its core philosophy.
“Our offering is tailor-made, responding to individual requests with a uniquely South African touch.
“From addressing guests as members of an extended family without being over familiar to celebrating special occasions with the flair that we are known for, the Saxon continues to offer only the best South African hospitality to our guests.
“This philosophy and attitude is emphasised right at the beginning of every employee’s introduction to the hotel and the common thread within our business. It’s really just about good old-fashioned hospitality.”
The Saxon’s recently appointed general manager, Tom Rutherford, commented that he is proud to be a member of this award-winning team and looks forward to building on these successes in the future.
Both properties have also been nominated for major awards at the World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony to be held on Sunday December 10th in Vietnam.
