South African Tourism will be exhibiting for the first time at the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, where it will showcase South Africa’s travel offering from September 29 to October 1.
Evelyn Mahlaba, Regional General Manager: Africa at South African Tourism said the World Tourism Expo was an SAT business imperative, critical to growing tourist arrivals from Africa.
“Zimbabwe and the rest of the continental markets are important for South African Tourism as Zimbabwe contributed over two million tourist arrivals in 2016, with Africa accounting for 70% of the total foreign tourist arrivals into South Africa,” says Mahlaba.
The recently released MasterCard Global Index shows Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland as top source markets for Johannesburg as an overnight destination, reinforcing the importance of these markets as a tourism source.
