Denver’s second hotel under InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has opened at the city’s revitalized Union Station in the city’s Lower Downtown (LoDo) district.
The 200-room Hotel Born has more than 700 art pieces from Denver-area artists, including about 300 in the hotel’s public areas. With an “alpine modern” design that integrates wood, concrete and metal materials, the hotel boasts west-facing rooms with views of the Rocky Mountains as well as a restaurant called Citizen Rail. An eatery called Tavernetta by Frasca will open by fall.
Hotel Born was developed by Continuum Partners, which is the co-developer of Union Station, and is located at the southwest corner of the 136-year-old railway station. That property includes the 112-room Crawford Hotel, which opened in 2014 as part of the project’s $54 million renovation. Notably, the station added direct commuter-rail service to Denver International Airport last year.
Kimpton opened the 189-room Hotel Monaco Denver in 1998.
