Following the launch of more than 30 new flights at the end of March this year and the decision to use Munich airport as the second base for its long-haul offering, next summer the low-cost airline will also launch a new flight connection between Cologne/Bonn and Munich.
With four flights a day, the airline’s two long-haul bases will be linked together in a way that enables passengers to combine the two airports, Cologne/Bonn and Munich, for their long-haul flights.
For the most part, Eurowings will fly to the same long-haul destinations from both airports.
The new route will also benefit passengers transferring to Eurowings’ European air routes as well as passengers en route within Germany.
The route between Cologne/Bonn and Munich is an important domestic connection so Eurowings’ four regular daily flights will usefully supplement Lufthansa’s existing offering.
Both airports are geared to short distances and fast transfers so the infrastructure will provide the perfect environment for the Eurowings business concept.
Oliver Wagner, chief executive, Eurowings, said: “With the Cologne/Bonn-Munich route, we are creating the perfect link between our extensive route offerings at both airports.
“Our passengers will benefit significantly from this: it will give them considerably greater flexibility, particularly when planning long-haul flights with Eurowings.
“As Europe’s fastest growing airline right now, we are continuing to set the pace and improve the quality of our product and network quickly and sustainably.
“We are also seeing the success in our business figures: Eurowings impresses more and more customers; we are positioning our growing route offering very successfully in the market.”
As of March 25th next year, Eurowings will commute between Cologne/Bonn and Munich four times a day, even on weekends.
With departures from Cologne/Bonn at 07:25, 11:05, 14:35 and 18:50 and from Munich at 09:05, 12:50, 16:35 and 20:35, the flight times are very well coordinated with the departure times of the intercontinental flights and important European connections.
