Lufthansa will begin flying between its Frankfurt hub and San Diego in the summer of 2018.
The service will be Lufthansa’s first to San Diego. The carrier will fly the route five times per week.
Lufthansa could be competing against leisure carrier Condor, which began offering summer seasonal Frankfurt-San Diego service in May. Condor is flying the route three times per week.
Lufthansa also said Tuesday that it would up the frequency of its Munich-Chicago service from daily to 10 per week in summer 2018.
And, the carrier plans to begin using an Airbus A380 on flights between Munich and Los Angeles in summer 2018.
