ONBOARD THE DISNEY FANTASY — The Disney Fantasy is now home to the Marvel’s Doctor Strange and the Star Wars’ heroes of The Resistance.
Specifically, those characters reside in the ship’s reimagined Oceaneer Club, which has two new spaces: Marvel Super Hero Academy and Star Wars Command Post.
Disney Cruise Line took the wraps off the renovated kids club and a couple other new spaces — a Tiffany jewelry store and the Sweet on You ice cream and candy shop — during a three-day Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral this week.
Disney continues to integrate Marvel and Star Wars programming on its cruise ships, following last year’s launch of dedicated spaces on the Disney Wonder’s Oceaneer Club. The Super Hero Academy on the Fantasy differs from the Wonder’s Avengers Academy in that a whole new cast of heroes delights the kids. Whereas Spider-Man and Captain America can be found on the Wonder, the Fantasy is home to Doctor Strange, Thor and Ant Man.
Doctor Strange will teach kids a spell to fight Dormmamu (one of Doctor Strange’s foes), and Thor will instruct kids how to construct a hammer and use it against Thor’s nemesis, Loki.
More imaginative play awaits in the Star Wars Command Post, where kids learn the ways of The Force, using that power to repel Stormtroopers and move objects. Also, they can interact with droid BB-8, visit planets on a flight simulator or play Star Wars games on iPads.
Up on the pool deck, guests in search of an ice cream upgrade will find that in Sweet on You, where they can purchase gelato, candy and baked goods.
In the Tiffany store, guests can shop for engagement rings — and receive advice on how best to pop the question on a Disney cruise. In addition, guests who spot a desired piece of jewelry may drop a “hint” in the Tiffany mailbox, to be sent to their significant other as a gift suggestion.
The launch of the Disney-Tiffany partnership, however, does not include Disney-themed jewelry, which may come as a disappointment to hard-core Disney fans.
