Venice is one of the most romantic cities in the world. Imagine walking around the narrow streets and enjoying the views of the canals with your special someone. Everything about the city evokes mystic and sophistication. If you’re going to make the effort to visit, make sure that you have the best time you possibly can. Here are five ways to have a perfect trip to Venice.
1# Get Lost in the Maze of Streets and Alleys:
When you arrive, one of the first things that you’ll notice is the number of small alleys that branch out around the city. Some lead to tiny squares that are full of charm and character. Others take you to hidden sections of the canal.
One of my favourite things to do is to walk around and get lost in some of these places. You’re also going to find cafes and restaurants that aren’t full of tourists. This gives you a glimpse into the real Venice.
2# Explore the Canals in a Water Taxi:
Travelling around the canals on a gondola is both expensive and a major tourist trap. But, what if you could still get the same experience and views for a much lower price? The good news is that you can with a water taxi.
I used Motoscafi Venezia water taxis, which are fast, reliable, and even offer their own tour service. The taxi picked me up from the train station and took me to my hotel along the canals. This was very scenic and it started my trip in the best way possible.
If you’re arriving at Marco Polo Airport, you can have the most romantic airport transfer ever with a water taxi!

3# Eat a Venetian Pizza:
Italy is full of small pizzerias with charismatic chefs and waiters. But, nothing is quite like the atmosphere in some of the lesser known places in Venice. This city has evolved over time and the locals are different. Order a delicious pizza and practice your Italian with some of the Venetians. You’ll have an amazing time.
4# Tour the Canals and City:
You can learn and experience so much with a tour. The ones in Venice are no different. Hop on a boat and go around the Grand Canal and some of the smaller ones to learn about the history of this fantastic city. Some people like to go around once during the day and again after nightfall.
5# Go to Saint Mark’s Basilica:
Saint Mark’s is one of the most prominent landmarks in the city. This opulent structure is a symbol of the wealth Venice once had. The Piazza San Marco is a short walk away, which is a great place to relax with a coffee and soak up the atmosphere.
The Takeaway Message:
If you’ve always dreamt of visiting Venice, you should make the extra effort to plan the trip of a lifetime. Take advantage of the water taxis for a more affordable tour around the canals. This is one of the best cities in the world and it almost certainly won’t disappoint you.
