Air India has announced two new international flights for 2017, with the first being between India and Israel beginning from May 2017. The airline plans to open the New Delhi-Tel Aviv route with three weekly flights.
Talking about the commencement of the new flight, Ashwani Lohani, CMD, Air India, said, “Air India is looking forward to the opening of the direct route to Israel in a few months’ time. I believe that this will have a positive effect on the tourism traffic between our two countries.”
Hassan Madah, Director, Israel Ministry of Tourism in India, said, “We are very happy with the growth in Indian travellers to Israel. In 2016, there were 44,672 Indian tourists that travelled to Israel, setting a new record for the highest number of travellers from India. With Air India commencing operations directly to Israel, we are confident of an increased influx of arrivals to Israel in 2017.”
Air India is also slated to begin operation on a non-stop flight from Delhi to Washington from July 7, 2017, connecting both the capitals of India and the USA. Washington will be the airline fifth non-stop destination in the USA following New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Chicago (ORD) and San Francisco (SFO).
The non-stop flight will not only provide convenient connections to Indians based in the Pacific Northwest region, but will also further enhance the diplomatic relations between the two countries. The direct flight will take approximately 15 hours and 30 mins to reach Washington from Delhi.
