Alaska Airlines will do away with the Virgin America brand, likely sometime in 2019.
However, Alaska jets will adopt some of the features that have helped Virgin America earn consistently high rankings among consumers relative to other U.S. carriers.
“We spent the last 10 months conducting extensive research and listening carefully to what fliers on the West Coast want most,” said Sangita Woerner, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing. “While the Virgin America name is beloved to many, we concluded that to be successful on the West Coast we had to do so under one name — for consistency and efficiency, and to allow us to continue to deliver low fares.”
The combined airline will adopt the mood lighting that Virgin America is known for, except the lighting will be light blue rather than red. Alaska will also expand its selection of first class and premium class seats, with the first reconfigured cabin to debut next year.
The combined airline’s entire fleet will be equipped with satellite-provided high-speed WiFi by the end of 2019.

Still wonder why Alaska, Jetblue and Virgin America didn’t tie the knot together.
That would have introduced >
Additional balance in the route map such as strong north/south east coast service,
Provided much more seasonal balance in aircraft utilization, and
Introduced a more attractive collection on international destinations to motivate frequent flyers.
