The roadshow was led by Vivek Anand, Country Manager- India, MTPA, who shared valuable comments on the overall experience of the event. “The response of the travel trade partners was amazing. The objective of this B2B roadshow was to update the travel fraternity and help them forge business ties with the Mauritius suppliers.”
In 2016, Mauritius welcomed 83,000 tourists from India which was a growth of 15% over 2015. “This year we are targeting 100,000 tourists from India, which would be an increase of 20% over 2016. We expect a healthy growth in the MICE and Wedding segment and will be promoting Mauritius as a destination ‘Beyond the Beach’,” Anand said.
Other prominent participating stakeholders included Air Mauritius, Sun Resorts, Akquasun Group, Beachcomber Hotels, Solis Indian Ocean and many more.
Vinith G, Manager– India & South Asian Sub-continent, Air Mauritius, said, “This roadshow is the perfect opportunity to have one to one interactions with travel trade and it’s really helpful for everyone. Presently Air Mauritius operates from four cities in India, with the airlines maintaining a load factor of 85%. India is a key market for us and we intend to welcome 100,000 Indian tourists to Mauritius in 2017.”
Medha Sampat, India Representative for Sun Resorts, said, “We at Sun Resorts have successfully promoted our brand in India through this roadshow. We have been very popular with the Indian market especially in hosting Indian weddings. The figures of travellers from the Indian market have been quite good for us in the previous year and we are expecting even more growth in 2017.
Zaynah Kanowah, General Manager of Akquasun Mauritius commented, “This roadshow has helped us create new business relationships. We are mainly promoting our online portal and with the number of Indian travellers making use of our services growing year by year, we are looking at an even greater increase in 2017.”
