There’s kayaking, snorkeling, boating, and sand-castle making to be had at the many beaches, plus Sea World, the world-famous Zoo, and Legoland, to name just a few. And with gorgeous sunshine most of the year, it’s a perfect place to enjoy spring break.

The Golden Gate City offers plenty to do for the whole family: whether it’s visiting kid-oriented museums, eating hot dogs and garlic fries on the field outside AT&T Park, or playing at the old-school video arcade Musee Mecanique, San Francisco is a great place for a family outing. Check out this list of recommendations for places to eat, stay, and play with the kids in the city.

Surrounded by over 30 miles of beaches, the former fishing village of Destin offers something for everyone – there’s great swimming and clean sand, plus even the kids will love the shops and restaurants in Destin Commons. And lounging on the beach, staring at The Emerald Coast’s mesmerizing green waters along the Florida Panhandle are a perfect way to while away the whole week.
4. Phoenix

Take the fam to the Mystery Castle, a strange house built from recycled materials by a man that was, himself, something of a mystery. (And just a jaunt up the freeway is Montezuma Castle, one of the world’s best preserved cliff dwellings.) Don’t miss the quaint western storefronts of Old Town Scottsdale, the interactive exhibits and IMAX theater at Arizona Science Center, or the poppy fields and cacti when you hike up to Pinnacle Peak.
5. Maui

Kids and adults alike will love Kaanapali Beach, where they can watch cliff-divers and torch dancers at sunset. There’s no shortage of resorts here either, all of which are packed with activities for the kids – including elaborate pools, if the salty ocean is too rough. The wind-protected Baldwin Beach is another favorite for families, where the surf is too gentle for water sports so kids can splash around and build sandcastles while Mom and Dad relax. Or, head north to Kapalua for a quieter and more serene day at the beach.
6. Myrtle Beach

The 60-mile long “Grand Strand” is full of coastal communities where children build sandcastles, fishermen wait for a bite, and everyone soaks up the hot sun. Plus, the Boardwalk and Promenade are lined with restaurants offering everything from shrimp poppers to fresh seafood, which means both Junior and Mom/Dad will find something to whet their appetite.
