One of my favorite spots in Stockholm is the Hotorget – Haymarket Square. It’s not one of the most famous places in Stockholm, but I like the size, the bar at the Scandic Haymarket hotel and the massive building of the Stockholm Concert Hall (Konserthus).

On my trip to Stockholm, I did not have a chance to attend a concert at the Konserthus, but it’s on my list for next time. From the Konserthus website, I can tell I’d enjoy a performance there. Stockholm is a musical powerhouse (the Swedish education system is big on music education for all children). I was fortunate to attend a small soprano and piano concert at the Royal Opera last summer. It was a highlight of the trip. But classical is not my only thing, I love big pop concerts and would like to experience one at the Globen Arena. It’s on the things-to-do list when I go back to Sweden.
Filmstaden shows major Hollywood films and its screens are top of the line. Saw The Legend of Tarzan there and it was a great experience. © canadianandworldtourism/cactusrock new media |
4 hotels I suggest for your stay in Stockholm:
The Radisson Blu Waterfront right next to the impressive Convention Centre. Excellent location. The Scandic Continental. Centrally located very close to public transportation (which, by the way, is fantastic). I stayed at this hotel for a weeks in summer. Would definitely stay there again (though there are many cool hotels I’d like to try, including the 3 I suggest here besides the Continental).Hotel Rival. A very cool hotel (owned by ABBA’s Benny Andersson) in a cool neighbourhood.Haymarket by Scandic. Another cool hotel in a great location – the Hötorget (Haymarket) city square.
