The city of Lima is a culinary and cultural hotspot. And it’s become increasingly better when it comes to hotels and accommodations. Here are eight outstanding options in Peru‘s capital, to fit a variety of budgets and tastes.
1. Best Mid-priced Hotel in Miraflores: Crowne Plaza Lima
Located in the Miraflores district, the Crowne Plaza offers a good combination of mid-range prices and central location in a good neighborhood. The indoor pool is one of the best amenities.
2. Best View from a Luxury Hotel: JW Marriott Lima
Take a room with a view of the Pacific Ocean at this upscale hotel, which is set in a dramatic location in Miraflores, near the Larcomar shopping center.
3. Best Classically Elegant Luxury Hotel: Country Club Lima Hotel
Opened in the chic San Isidro district in 1927, the Country Club Lima Hotel exudes the elegance that its name suggests, with formally dressed doormen, conservatively upscale decor and an especially inviting outdoor pool.
4. Best Stylish Hotel at Value Prices: NM Lima Hotel
Sleek, modern style and reasonable prices (under $100) make the NM — which is located in the upscale San Isidro district — a good choice.
5. Best Luxury Hotel for Business Events: Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center
Set in a modern part of the San Isidro district, the high-rise Westin Lima is within walking distance of upscale dining and shopping, and has a large spa, an indoor pool, stylish on-site restaurants and lots of well-appointed meeting and event space.
6. Best Luxury Boutique Property: Hotel B
Set within a historic Belle Epoque mansion in the lovely-and-hip Barranco district, this luxurious and pricey Lima hotel — a member of Relais & Chateaux — exhibits original artwork by contemporary Peruvian artists, making this a perfect blend of old and new.
7. Best Budget Hotel in Miraflores: Larq’a Park
With a central location, free WiFi and basic-but-comfortable accommodations, Larq’a Park continues to attract praise from guests for its great prices.
8. Best Combination of Space, Location and Amenities: Airbnb
Some people prefer hotels, some people prefer private accommodations, and for many people, it depends on the destination, the purpose of the trip and the mood of the traveler. During my most recent visit, I found the array of apartments on Airbnb in Lima to be impressively diverse, and at a wide variety of price points. I stayed in two different apartments in the Barranco district; both were beautiful, modern, well appointed, and more reasonably priced than hotels with similar amenities.
