The Central government, to encourage the local tourism in the village areas, has already allotted Rs 100 crore for various tourism projects in Idukki district.
The project will construct 12 environment-friendly cottages at Hill View Park near Idukki Dam. Parts of the cottage except for the floor and toilet would be made of wood. Five acres of land has already been sanctioned by District tourism promotion council in order to implement the eco-log project.
Idukki MP Joyce George, District Collector GR Gokul and KIADC officials recently visited the proposed Eco Log project area.
“The project will boost the tourism activities in the district. Part of the Eco Log project, will also construct a special road near the Idukki hill view park to make special passages towards the Eco Log cottages,” said Idukki MP, Joice George.
Swadesh Darshan aims to follow a community-based development and pro-poor tourism approach and also for harnessing tourism potential for its direct and multiplier effects in employment generation and economic development.
