“The heraldic practice of attaching an inscription – or appropriate sentiment – to a coat of arms or a crest has been honoured by the Dominion of Canada and eight of the 10 provinces. While none of the territories has a motto, many municipalities have their own. The motto of the Dominion of Canada is A Mari Usque Ad Mare which is officially translated as “From Sea to Sea” and “D’un océan à l’autre ”. The phrase comes from the Latin translation of Psalm 72:8 in the Bible.” Officials Symbols of Canada. Heritage Canada
From sea to sea to sea, this is the year to celebrate Canada as we mark the 150th Anniversary of Confederation. Both Lonely Planet and the New York Times have chosen Canada as the top tourist destination for 2017. There will be celebrations all year round, but Spring and Summer will see the biggest including Canada Day in Ottawa (all hotels are sold out for the weekend). Visit Ottawa 2017 and official Canada 150 sites for specific event information and/or come back to this blog often.
