The Zimbabwean government is negotiating a US$150 million loan with a Chinese investor to upgrade Harare International Airport.
The Sunday Mail reported that Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister, Dr Joram Gumbo, said government was finalising the negotiations.
“Upgrading of international airports will be further pursued in 2017,” said Finance Minister, Patrick Chinamasa.
The Zimbabwean government has allocated US$4.9 million of its 2017 national budget towards further upgrading Bulawayo’s Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport.
The airport was commissioned in 2013 following a $25 million facelift.
Minister Chinamasa said a further US$5.5 million had been allocated for the procurement of weather equipment to be installed at Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls international airports.
