The first major travel mart post demonetisation provides unparalleled marketing opportunity for the travel trade
Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam played host to the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF), India’s largest travel trade show network. The three-day event witnessed over 120 national and international participants, who had set up colourful pavilions to woo the travellers from the city and from Tamil Nadu.
This year, the show has grown by 25% over last year, indicating that even post-demonetisation, the travel industry is anticipating good growth and positive trends.
Participants from six Countries and 20 Indian States & Union Territories came to sell at TTF Chennai. These included state tourism boards, national tourist offices, hoteliers, airlines, tour operators and travel agents, online travel companies, railways, cruises and other travel marketers.
Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh were the Partner States for the event whereas Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Jharkhand and Andaman & Nicobar were the Feature States.
SriLankan Airlines, the national carrier of Sri Lanka providing convenient connections to its global route network of 94 destinations in 44 countries participated in a big way at TTF Chennai as the Partner Airline. “With the most recent expansion into India, SriLankan Airlines now operates to 11 cities in India with a weekly frequency of 106 flights,” said S P Mohan, Manager for Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The event also had participation from Haryana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Countries represented at Chennai included Malaysia, Singapore, Russia, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
First half of the show (i.e. from Friday to Saturday till 2 pm) was reserved for the travel trade thereafter it was open for all (i.e. from Saturday afternoon till Sunday evening).
The TTF Series was supported by India Tourism, who also participated in TTF Chennai as in the past.
Besides states and countries represented, other exhibitors included India B2B Solutions, Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd, Southern Travels Pvt Ltd, India Tourism Development Corporation, Tamara Coorg, Itzcash and many more.
To enhance and showcase their respective offerings, aside from attractive and elegant stalls, participating states and countries at TTF Chennai presented cultural events and marketing presentations to trade visitors and the media.
