One such event was the 15-day J&K Tourism Food Craft and Culture Festival 2016 at Dilli Haat in the capital, organised by J&K Tourism in collaboration with department of handicrafts.
The festival was inaugurated by Priya Sethi, Minister of State Tourism, along with Mushtaq Chaya, Chairman, Hoteliers Club and Ibrahim Siah, President, Travel Agents Society of Kashmir, officials of tourism department, government of J&K, travel trade association members of ADTOI, IATO, TAAI, TAFI and other travel & tourism fraternities.
Speaking on the occasion Sethi said, “J&K has a variety of products to offer to varied taste of travellers and the department is equipped with all the facilities to cater to the visitors to the state. The department is holding winter carnival and snow festival in Kashmir as part of its busy winter calendar to invite winter tourism lovers and she urged the people to come experience this season in J&K.”
The department will also hold adventure sports activities in Gulmarg and Pahalgam to attract adventure lovers, the Minister added. The display of the state’s varied cuisines including Kashmiri Wazwaan, traditional food items from Ladakh and Jammu regions emerged as the prime attraction of the event.
The state government has been relying heavily on domestic tourism and has not missed any opportunity to participate at trade shows and industry events throughout the country. Industry roadshows have been planned with major participation, led by the local industry in the state.
