Delta has completed installation of WiFi on its long-haul fleet, the carrier said on Oct. 28.
Delta passengers flying on more than 200 daily flights between the U.S. and Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe and South America are now able to stay connected throughout the trip, the carrier said.
“Completion of [long-haul] WiFi installation means our customers are more connected than ever when flying to the more than 50 countries we serve around the world,” Joe Kiely, Delta managing director of product and customer experience, said in a statement.
Delta’s WiFi is powered by Gogo’s high-speed Ku-band satellites.
The carrier said it is the first in the U.S. to complete WiFi installation on its long-haul fleet.
American and United didn’t respond to emails Monday morning about the status of WiFi installation on their long-haul fleets. On its website, United says it has installed WiFi on all mainline aircraft except those based in Guam.
Delta began the process of installing WiFi on its more than 180 international, widebody aircraft in 2012.
