The Trogon Lodge is a great destination in the Central Valley of Costa Rica, approximately 2 hours drive south of San José, high up in the mountains, on the road to Cerro de la muerte, near the village of San Gerardo de Dota. Or on your way from the south back to the capital.
The lodge is situated in the green forest at an altitude of over 2000 m. A visit to San Gerardo de Dota perfectly describes the outward or return journey from the South or Panama to Santa Ana.
San Gerardo de Dota is known for the numerous reserves of the Quetzal in the surrounding woods. Guided tours are arranged by the lodge, and you will get with certainty to see and hear them.
The Quetzal belongs to the family of trogons, therefore the name of the lodge.
The Trogon Lodge is the perfect place for birdwatchers, but also for everyone who loves the unspoiled nature.
The lodge offers comfortable rooms, all with bath and hot water. In addition, the rooms all have a heating. This is sometimes necessary.
In the Quetzal restaurant, is offered freshly caught trout from our own lake.
The lodge has its own canopy facility, there are many interesting hiking trails, also at a great waterfall. Guided tours are offered, even on horseback.
