“Uttarakhand is focusing on experiential travel in the destination. We want to promote the state as not only religious, but also a spiritual destination. It has a huge potential in Adventure, Wellness or Yoga Tourism that we are aggressively promoting,” informed Shailesh Bagauli, Secretary, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board.
Besides the 125 existing trek routes, Uttarakhand has geared up to develop new trekking sites with single window clearance. Other adventure sports in the state include paragliding and rafting. In the wellness and yoga tourism sector, the state has moved beyond the yoga capital Rishikesh to add new destinations to itineraries.
Uttarakhand is also promoting Rural Tourism for tourists to get a flavour of the local culture, cuisine and hospitality. For this, the state has sealed partnerships with Stayzilla and OYO to promote and standardise homestays. The information was shared by the Tourism Ministry in a roadshow held at Ramada Ahmedabad during the TTF show.
Uttarakhand participated at TTF Ahmedabad as a Partner State. The show was also graced with the special presence of Dinesh Dhanai, Tourism Minister, Government of Uttarakhand.
Commenting on the contribution of TTF to the state’s tourism, Minister said, “TTF is a very good opportunity for all the tourism related stakeholders and for all the states who are trying to promote their tourism to meet and share their ideas. Uttarakhand also got to interact with several hoteliers and people from the trade and media.”
