Going on holiday to the Land of Smiles this winter? No matter your interests or budget,
Koh Samui
As the largest island in the Gulf of Thailand, there are no shortage of spots where one can enjoy a tropical holiday on Koh Samui. There are a variety of environments available, from the heavily urbanized villages of Chaweng and Lamai, to the more secluded beaches that can be found on the west coast.
The villas range from luxury apartments in Lamai to fully decked-out resort properties in places like Bophut. In the latter destination, grand pools and dining facilities compliment in-suite amenities such as fully stocked kitchens and entertainment systems.
As for activities, there are plenty of world-class beaches that can be found on every coastline, otherworldly temples such as Wat Phra Yai, and diving trips to nearby coral reefs to keep you busy.
Phuket
The first place in all of Thailand to be developed for international tourists, there are plenty of options for travelers seeking a relaxing and luxurious holiday in Phuket. While Patong is the most popular option for many travelers, there are other areas along the west coast that cater to those that are not seeking the nightlife for which this beach is notorious.
Karon and Kata Beach are favoured by families for this reason, and with the latter destination lacking a drop off, it is also one of the safest beaches on the island. If you still seek an adult atmosphere, but still crave the quiet that is lacking in Patong, Kamala is where you will want to locate yourself.
As for villas in all these centres, they run the full gamut from smartly appointed affordable luxury condos, to sprawling complexes with all the fine luxury touches you would expect from a high-end property.
The best villas come with amenities such as game rooms, private plunge pools, and outdoor living spaces that might actually be superior to your living room at home.
Chiang Mai
Some people don’t need to go to the beach when they go on holiday in Thailand. For them, the culture, cuisine and friendly people of Chiang Mai is all they need to have a fulfilling trip away from home.
The heights of Doi Suthep, the massive chedi at Wat Chedi Luang, countless hole-in-the-wall joints serving creamy bowls of Khao Soi (in addition to other attractions) make the lack of a sea view a non-issue for these folks.
There are many bespoke villas that can be found within former mansions in the old centre, as well as within the leafy sub-tropical jungle that can be found in the hills just outside city limits.
Want a place with traditional Lanna furnishings, or uber-modern everything? Looking for an infinity pool with a view of mountains bursting with greenness after months of wet season rains? You’ll find all of these qualities contained within the villas that can be found in the Chiang Mai area.
