Following a welcome address by Sandeep Dwivedi, COO, InterGlobe Technology Quotient, the media personnel were shown the differences between the traditional and smart travel booking scenario. They were further introduced to the advanced tool of GDS- Travelport Smartpoint.
Airlines have the capability of offering several advantages like branded fairs, rich content or ancillary sales through which they can maximise their revenue. With Travelport Smartpoint, travel agents will have access to rich visual imagery and more information through which one can compare and sell airline offers more easily. On this platform, airlines can thus push different fare with some value additions like meal, Wi-Fi, lounge access or baggage among others. Besides flights, the model also provides improved navigation, graphical mapping and interactive screens to ease the sale of hotel rooms and car hire.
“Smartpoint is different from the traditional GDS environment. A lot of LCC carriers are participating on the Smartpoint in Air Content Hub (ACH). Smartpoint proves to be a win-win situation for the consumer, travel agents as well as the airlines. Almost 70% of the travel agents have already installed SmartPoint,” remarked Dwivedi.
