As a travel addict and a serious sufferer of wanderlust, my thirst for adventure and travel is never fully quenched. There are still so many places I have to visit, and in today’s post I’m looking at Niagara Falls.
I don’t think it’s somewhere I’d go as a full holiday; it would suit my style more to take in this area as a luxury break on a wider tour on Ontario. With this in mind, I’m looking at how I’d spend 48 hours there.
Day One
First stop when arriving in the area, is to check in to one of the hotels in Niagara Falls. Personally, I’ll be looking to stay in the Marriott on the Falls, as they have truly spectacular views of the Falls right from your bedroom window, so each morning you get to have a slice of it all to yourself over breakfast. Plus, they have luxury break packages and getaways specifically aimed at couples, so it would be the perfect location for a bit of pampering.
After dropping off the bags, we’ll see a few of the area’s top attractions, starting with a walk around the Horseshoe Falls themselves, taking all the mandatory selfies before heading out on our first excursion (after already booking everything with the hotel). The number one tour for me and the one I simply cannot wait for is the Hornblower Cruise; after sailing up the adjoining river past the American and Bridal Veil Falls, the catamaran glides right up to the base of the Falls, where you can feel the spray from the millions of gallons of water tumbling over the edge every second.
After all that excitement, I think we’ll travel in style for the next part and take a helicopter tour! What could be better than an aerial view of the Falls and of Niagara’s skyline? I’ll get to see everything from the churning waters of the Niagara River Whirlpool, to Queen Victoria Park. One thing’s for sure, my camera won’t ever be put away with views like those!
Day Two
I’d like to start day two with a tour of the wine country, and while I’m here, why not go for the best? I’ll definitely be visiting the Thirty Bench Winery for a start, as they grow premium wines that are grown exclusively on estate vineyards in the Beamsville Bench appellation. With many rare wines to choose from, I might as well take advantage of the chance to sample them while I can!
After a long day of wine tasting (it’s a hard job right?), I think we’ll finish off the day with a trip to Niagara’s Botanical Gardens. I’d love to see the famous rose gardens and the butterfly sanctuary while I’m there, before heading to the promenade for a romantic meal with one of the best views in the world. Then there’s only enough time to head back and pack our bags!
