Monsoon have arrived in Maharashtra, and the Mumbaikars have already started packing their bags for monsoon given the weather forecast of good rains this year.
Commenting on this, Karan Anand, Head (Relationships) Cox and Kings Ltd, a travel-based company said, “Heavy rainfall offers its own charm for the travellers. Tourists get attracted towards lush, green, romantic tranquillity. Usually, monsoon is considered as ‘off-season’ for these places; but this year we are observing surge in bookings mainly for rainy destinations.”
“Many Mumbaikars have booked the trips much before the monsoon season i.e. in April-May. There is around 40% rise in the number of enquires, which is highest in the recent past”, he adds.
Travelling during monsoon can be light on your pocket since it is off-season, one can get upto 20-30% discounts on the packages by travel companies and airlines.
During monsoon, apart from exploring nature, travellers look forward to indulge in activities like trekking, bird watching, hiking, water rafting etc. They also enjoy visiting beaches during the rains.
Last year, travellers turned their back on the monsoon getaways in Maharashtra due to low rainfall. But this year, monsoon destinations in the state like Lonavala, Khandala, Malshej Mahabaleshwar, Alibag and Bhandardara etc, too are all set to welcome the tourists.
Travel enthusiasts are planning to make most of the four extended weekends falling during the monsoon: Independence Day Weekend which is on 13th to15th August, Janamashthami Weekend between 25th and 28th August, Ganesh Chaturthi Weekend which falls on 3rd-5th September and Bakri-Id Weekend between 10th and 12th September.
