Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla laid the foundation stone of the state’s biggest tourism project ‘Integrated Development of New Eco-Tourism’ at Thenzawl Community Hall yesterday, an official statement today said.
Lal Thanhawla, inaugurating the project, said Thenzawl and adjoining areas have natural scenic beauty, Mizoram’s highest waterfall Vantawng, Tuirihau waterfall and other historical and cultural sites, the statement said.
The project estimated at a cost Rs 94 crore would be funded by the Centre under the new Tourism Policy ‘Swadesh Darshan’ for the North East Circuit.
Thenzawl is situated midway between Aizawl and south Mizoram’s Lunglei, the second largest urban habitation in the state. The area is blessed with scenic beauty and a congenial climate all year round.
South Zote is around 15 km from Thenzawl, while Reiek, another centre of the project, is about an hour’s drive from Aizawl and located at a hill top.
