I may be female but for some reason I do love scrolling through Instagram, looking at the latest men’s fashion trends on accounts like @BeautifulMenswear. I always appreciate a stylish man and can’t help but notice men’s style when I’m travelling, whether it’s a pair of colourful shoes, a well-tailored jacket or an eye-catching watch.
Short Shorts
No more long board shorts and big white tan lines – short shorts are all the rage again this season. Keep colours bold and colourful for the beach, or wear more muted colours with button-down shirts for the evening. House of Fraser have a great collection of Mens Swimwear with shorter board shorts for summer.
White Trousers
I’ll never forget the movie Never Been Kissed, when Josie (played by Drew Barrymore) says: “That’ll teach me to wear white jeans after labor day.” Well apparently that rule is being broken this summer, as white trousers and white chinos are totally on-trend for guys. Pair them with navy blue shirts, cable knit sweaters or a splash of bright colour for the ultimate summer look.
Green Machine
If the catwalks of Hermes, Burberry and Brioni are anything to go by, the colour of the summer will be most definitely green. From khaki to bottle green, all shades of green are in fashion, so there’ll be something to suit every travelling man. Try a military style jacket, or pack a pair of green jeans for a bold statement.
Fifties Shirts
This summer 2016 we’re taking a trip back in time to the fifties, palm prints and bold patterns. So ditch the Oxford button downs – the new short-sleeved trend is the cuban collar. While this is a look your grandfather will have probably worn, the trick this season is to pull it off without looking old-fashioned. If you just want to give a subtle nod to the era, pick a shirt that’s slightly more fitted in a plain colour and pair it with a pair of loose fitting trousers.
Bomber Jackets
If you need a versatile jacket to pack for your next trip, then the 1950s bomber jacket is a great option to pair with a casual outfit. Still in style since last season, the bomber jacket has made an appearance on the catwalks of Alexander Wang, Versace and Louis Vuitton. It’s not only fashionable, but it’s also lightweight and practical to travel with.
