I have spent the last 8 days in Stockholm, Sweden. I haven’t been this impressed by a city for years. Stockholm is now in my top 10 city destinations in the world (might be in the top 5)!
I will be blogging about Stockholm occasionally in the future. But I’ll start with this quick list of 5 Top suggestions for you (in no particular order)
1. Take an introduction to Stockholm tour. In a few hours, you will get an idea of what the city has to offer.
2. Visit the Moderna Museet – Museum of Modern Art. Walk around the museum afterwards (go around and walk down to the water front).

3. Spend time in Södermalm – the southern island with some very cool neighbourhoods. If you want to see Stockholmers in one of their natural habitats (parks) go to the southern end of Södermalm. Take the subway to the Skanstull T-bana and you will see a park across the exit (there is a Clarion hotel next to it. Walk down by the water and enjoy the park. Check out the Nyfiken Gul grill (Hammarby Slussväg 15, 118 60 Stockholm). It’s a great concept. You buy your food, but you barbecue yourself. It’s a cool bar/resto with great DJ music (more for young crowds if you don’t like EDM/Remix music).
4. If you like clubbing, try any of these clubs (July is not a great month for clubbing in Stockholm, but the spots did get busy when I visited)

5. Gamla Stan – The Old Town. The introduction to Stockholm will take you to Gamla Stan (to visit the Royal Palace). It’s definitely the most touristy area of town, but it’s still worth it. It’s lovely to walk around, grab a coffee or an ice cream and do some shopping (you’ll find stores that go from the typical touristy souvenir shop to high-end Swedish crafts like Malleras (glass) and Magnani (earrings, bracelets and such). I don’t recommend eating meals at restaurants in Gamla Stan. There are many restaurants Norrmalm and Södermalm.
