100 women of Chengdu visit Thailand as Women’s Journey campaign gets off to a grand start
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in cooperation with Thai Airways International (THAI), today staged a welcome ceremony to over 100 Chinese ladies from Chengdu upon their arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport to join Thailand in marking August 2016 as a special month for women travelers.
The Chinese delegates had all taken up promotional packaged tours in Thailand, which had been specially put together by TAT, THAI and Chengdu-based tour companies to meet the needs of women travellers.
The six-day/five-night trips cover three routes taking in Bangkok, Pattaya, Kanchanaburi, and Phuket.
The trips featured a range of excursions and activities geared toward women travellers including beauty treatments, relaxation and wellness, spa and massage, and the chance to experience local culture and traditions.
Ms. Runjuan Tongrut, TAT Executive Director of the East Asia Region, presided over the welcome ceremony at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
She’s joined by Mrs. Petpring Sarasin, THAI Vice President of Corporate Image & Communications Department. Ms. Runjuan Tongrut, TAT Executive Director of the East Asia Region said, “Thailand offers a great deal to women in terms of activities and attractions and our Women’s Journey Thailand 2016 campaign is promoting the best of these.
Our visitors from Chengdu got the chance to experience health and beauty treatments and to relax in some of the kingdom’s most sublime tropical destinations.
We understand the stress of modern life and feel that the charms of Thailand can help women to relax and feel invigorated after a break here.”
The visit of the 100 women from Chengdu is expected to generate over 20 million Baht and is just one of the many events planned for the Women’s Journey Thailand campaign that will continue throughout the month of August 2016.
The campaign also marks the 84th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on 12 August. Among the privileges for women travellers in Thailand during the month of August 2015 have included a special immigration lane for ladies (women travellers’ fast track) at Thailand’s major international airports in Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang), Chiang Mai, Phuket and Hat Yai.
