Wanderlust does not discriminate between genders — we all heed its call to spend hours sifting through photos of our dream destinations and search obsessively for good flight deals. But just because men and women both love exploring the world doesn’t mean they always see eye to eye on where to go. We ran the numbers and compared the ratings and reviews of women on Gogobot to those of their male counterparts to see which US cities were most heavily favored by the ladies. Check out the female-Gogobot-user-approved list, and then — because wanderlust will get you sooner or later — book your next hotel here.
1. Charleston, South Carolina
Why women like it: The pre-Civil War era mansions, the cobblestone streets, the breezy waterfront, and, perhaps most importantly, the food. From shrimp and grits to barbecue to experimental gourmet, you won’t leave Charleston hungry.
2. Key West, Florida

Why women like it: This island city is the perfect combination of high excitement and luxurious tranquility; there’s plenty of buzzing nightlife, adventure sports, and historic attractions when you want them, and opportunities aplenty for relaxing on a beach or a sailboat (or in a Butterfly Conservatory) for when you don’t.
3. Anchorage, Alaska

Why women like it: It’s a great base for exploring many of the state’s best natural attractions, but Anchorage also showcases much of what makes Alaska so fantastic within its own city limits, including the food, the culture, the landscape, and the wildlife. Plus, it’s got the perks of the city, so after you are done checking out the trails and museums, you can plop down for a pint at one of the many fine brewpubs.
4. Coronado, California
by: jlantzy flickr – Courtesy: Gogobot
Why women like it: It’s retro in the best sort of way. First established as a resort town in the 19th century, its elegance and appeal have only compounded over the years — and you don’t need a celebrity salary to afford it. Rent a bike to explore the boutique shops and restaurants, and then spend some time lounging on the beach or getting tea at the Hotel Del Coronado.
5. South Lake Tahoe, California

Why women like it: Apart from the stunning scenery and year-round outdoor activities, South Lake Tahoe is also one of the best places in the area to mix nature with indoor fun. There’s dining, nightlife, shopping, and spas, plus casinos just over the Nevada border.
6. Saint Louis, Missouri
by: ChrisYunker flickr – Courtesy: Gogobot
Why women like it: The Midwest has long been overlooked in the coast-heavy American tourist scene, but Saint Louis is a standout worth stopping for. The cultural and historic significance (including its role in the country’s pioneering past) are alone worth a trip, but the regional cuisine, especially the BBQ, is also a heavy draw.
7. Sedona, Arizona
by: Ryan Harvey flickr – Courtesy: Gogobot
Why women like it: The nature — red rocks jutting out from sandy deserts against a hazy blue sky — is a real obvious appeal. But the city has a lot more to offer, include (tons of) art and opportunities to explore Native American culture.
8. Napa, California

Why women like it: Wine. Yes. But Napa as a city has come of age, and it now boasts world-class restaurants, hotels, spas, boutiques and art galleries… which all go great with a little chardonnay.
9. Savannah, Georgia
by: Travel + Leisure – Courtesy: Gogobot
Why women like it: Savannah is a quintessential Southern charmer, captivating visitors with its historic architecture, tree-lined streets, friendly atmosphere, and tempting cuisine (yes, there’s barbecue), plus a few fascinating haunted sites to boot.
10. Memphis, Tennessee
by: Travel + Leisure – Courtesy: Gogobot
Why women like it: The city that started the careers of the likes of Elvis and B.B. King is an easy one to get swept up in. The music can be enjoyed at many clubs around the city, but there’s also lots more going on here, from the museums and history to the food and outdoor spaces.
